Fried Okra

Happy Sunday Veggie Fam! This week, I had a taste for something fried and crunchy. I just got back from my grandparents house and they had some many okra I was able to take home with my. I put two and two together and BOOM. Here is my Fried Okra recipe. Enjoy! I have all the recipe details via my Instagram posts below.

It's #SundayRecipeTime Veggie Fam 🌱. This week, I wanted to highlight some of the yummy veggies 🍅🥒🌶 I was able to bring back from my grandparents garden. It's a blessing to even say that. Fresh veggies, is the best veggies. Okra was in abundance, so you know I had to show you my Fried Okra recipe 😋. You already know this is #Vegan too. I have the full recipe ⬇️ Ingredients • Fried Okra • 6 Okra • 1 cup All Purpose Flour • 1 cup of Yellow Cornmeal • 1 cup of Unsweetened Almondmilk • 2 tbsp of Garlic Powder • 2 tbsp of Onion Powder • 1 tsp of Red Pepper Flakes • 1/2 tsp of Cayenne Pepper • Salt and Black Pepper to taste • Canola Oil for frying Directions 1. Take 1 brown paper bag and add in 1 cup of the flour, 1 tbsp of Garlic Powder, 1 tbsp of Onion Powder, black pepper and salt to taste. Shake bag to mix well. 2. In bag #2, add in the 1 cup of Yellow Cornmeal, 1 tbsp of Garlic Powder, 1 tbsp of Onion Powder, black pepper and to taste. 3. Grab a bowl and put enough of your 1 cup of almond milk. Whisk in your 1 tsp of red pepper flakes, 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper, ground black pepper, and salt to taste. 4. Before you get started with breading your okra, take a frying pan and fill it with your canola oil. Have just enough for a nice deep fry. Turn the heat to medium. 5. Take your washed okra and cut them into little coin pieces. 6. Now it's time to prep the okra for frying! 7. Add about a handful of okra in the bag with just the flour, then shake. 8. Take the okra, then dip them in your wet mix coating both sides. 9. Then add your okra to the cornmeal bag. Shake well. 10. Repeat steps 6-8 until all okra pieces are ready to be fried. 11. Once the oil is hot, add in a few tomato slices. Allow them to fry for about 3 minutes per side or until golden brown. 12. Lightly salt when you take them out of the frying pan and enjoy!

    I’m a huge fan of grits. I like the fact that these are vegan in case some of my friends aren’t eaten meat products.
